Newcastle Comic-Con: The first Great Geek event in the North-East

This weekend saw Comic Con arrive in Newcastle at The Metro Arena with tickets from as little as £8 per day, per adult. The North-East of England is slowly growing it's dominance in terms of Geek Culture, however up until now, event wise, it was pretty poor. Although the city holds two impressive comic/popular culture stores, Forbidden Planet and Travelling Man, this comic-con was the first to really offer something to the popular culture table: And take it from me it was epic!

Fiends, Jedi's, Hero's and villains all made their way to the stadium. I, however, chose to go for a more subtle look, a power ranger, pre-morphed... I thought that was a nice enough little quirk for losing my Comic-Con virginity...

The Rules of The World According to President Faith Lehane

Does everyone remember that unconventional wild child, chosen one, who wasn't Buffy Summers. Oh course you do! Everybody loved to hate and hated to love the complicated 'other' slayer who seemed to be in complete juxtaposition to Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Although Buffy held the weight of the world on her shoulders and literally died not once, but twice for the world Faith Lehane, for the majority of her time as a slayer took a much more relaxed approach. So with this in mind we will look at the things that would happen if Faith Lehane were president. Please remember these are completely hypothetical ideas of the actions of a fictional character, so please don't feel the need to live in a leather jacket or take the 'screw school' approach. 5 Reasons why we Love Cordelia Chase

Cordelia Chase, portrayed by Charisma Carpenter, is a fictional character from the Buffyverse. Cordillera was introduced as the typical 'mean girl' in the very first episode, and transformed into a pivotal character for the first three seasons, before taking her trademarked witt to the Buffy spin off Angel for another four seasons. Over her time in the Buffyverse Cordillia won the hearts of fans and critics alike, and here are some reasons why we just couldn't get enough...

Buffy Season 10 is HERE!

As many of you may know the Joss Whedon’s beloved TV show Buffy The Vampire Slayer had a long and successful run of 7 aired seasons. Dying twice, and saving the world from all kinds of evil Joss didn’t want it to end there. But buffy on screen had ran its course. Therfore Joss decided to continue the ‘scoobie gangs’ journey through the medium of comic books. For those of you who didn’t know this check them out, they’re different from the show, as there is no limit of budget etc, but they’re still the unique characters we love.

SPOILER ALERT*

In season 8 we seen the evil ‘big bad’ Twilight, come to town and hunt the slayers down. Buffy, finding out Angel was Twilight, destroyed the seed of magic (the magic of our world), leaving a devasted Willow. Buffy’s rash action was due to the death of Giles, her mentor and father figure at the hands of Twilight- Angel, her true love.

Season 9 showed us the zompire race, a mix between vampires and zombies, and how the world was dealing with the seed of magic being no more. More to the point this showed us how Willow wasn’t dealing. Willow began a quest to restore magic whilst Dawn, the key, was slowly disappearing. This lead to a great battle in the Deeper Well (Illyria’s resting place), with Illyria ‘the old one’ her self on Buffys side and ultimately dying there. Magic had been restored. But the book of the ‘VAMPYR” first seen in the first episode of Buffy ‘Welcome to the Hellmouth’ was blank… And newly turned vampires from this point were not bound by the normal limits…

So here in season 10, we see the effects of this change in the effects of magic on vampires (they are immune to sunlight, and can turn into bats). Xander is seeing ghosts- a ghost to be exact. His deceased, ex-fiance Anya! And Giles, in the form of a child, is back! And Faith is back! What does this all mean? Anyone fathom a guess as to how this season is going to pan out?
