'The Night Gwen Stacy Died' A Novel By Sarah Bruni

I will openly say that this book was nothing like I anticipated. When I first ordered the book I though it would be a novelisation of the comic book arc of the aforementioned name. I presumed that the novel would span over the 24 hour period of the loveable Gwen Satcy, the first love of Peter Parker (Spider-Man) and her inevitable death. This was not the case. This book focused on a young woman working in a gas station who meets a boy who identifies himself as Peter Parker and run away together. This novel was so much more than I expected, it surpassed my hopes and has actually become one of my favourite books of all time. With a deep and dark psychological background, hilarious characters and strong allegory to issues of The Amazing Spider-Man. This book was a wonderful roller coaster of emotions.

X-Men: Days of Future Past: A review

X-Men the famous franchise of Marvel's superhero world where evolution has allowed certain individuals with an X- gene to wield incredible gifts. Their mutations. Having based the original trilogy on comic book arcs the fans of the franchise were disappointed in how it ended. Due to this Brian Singer (X-Men and X2 director) took over as director for the Days of Future Past (DOFP) film in order to correct the issues and wrong doings made (especially with X-Men: The Last Stand), within the 'timeline' and to the X-Men franchise.

Days of Future past combines cast from the prequel movie X-Men: First Class along with the future/present time cast in order to restore the fractured lineage of The X-Men. This film managed to do this.

The Penultimate Episode S5 TVD - Death of a Hero and Hope in a Psycho...

If you haven't seen the penultimate episode yet, I would advise you to look away or discontinue reading. This post includes the biggest spoiler in The Vampire Diaries history.

The penultimate episode that aired in the states last night was crazy! And I mean crazy! After a whole season based on the Doppelgangers and the people who want to kill them, never in the world did we expect to actually see one of them die. Until last night... Stefan Salvatore, the original love of Elena Gilbert's life was murdered at the end of last night's episode. Julian, the traveller inhabiting Tyler Lockwood's body ripped Stefan's heart out in front of the (just as shocked as us) Caroline Forbes.

With Stefan then shown to move on to the other side through the Anchor- Bonnie, Stefan truly died. But surely The Vampire Diaries can't kill Stefan off?! Is there a way for him to come back from the other side before its impending collapse. Or was this the only way to throw fans off the track and achieve that shock factor they were looking for-  having the rumours of Damon Salvatore's death in the final episodes of the season, already been read by thousands of fans across the globe. Was Stefan's death a change of plan to get the ratings up? Will this truly be the end for the 'good brother' Stefan. As much as I hate to admit it, the feeling I got from his 'moving on' scene was that it is the end of Stefan. Unfortunately this is reinforced by Paul Wesley's (Stefan Salvatore) tweet.

Hope can still be found within Mystic Falls, as if we've learnt anything over the past five years, it's that no one truly leaves Mystic Falls and its very rare that a character really dies. We've seen an abundance of characters come back from the dead so why not Stefan? If anyone deserves another go at life it's Stefan. Could this be the pathway for Stefan to come back as a human and be truly happy. After all resisting the urges of being 'a ripper' must get tiresome from time to time.

My last comment is that I believe Bonnie is the key to Stefan's resurrection. Not due to being the Anchor, but due to being a descendant of Qetsiyah- originally a traveller. Does this mean that some how Bonnie could access the archaic forms of 'Pure Magic'? We have yet to see the limits of traveller magic, and Bonnie's magic. She just needs to find away to get out of the sticky situation that is being the Anchor to the other side. Or could Qetsiyah herself somehow return to help the charming Salvatore brother? Ahhhh this show makes my brain hurt! Either way we all have our fingers crossed for Stefan's return, be that next week or next season.

May The Forth Be With You: 'The Jedi Path' Review

Today is 4th of May... May the Fourth be with you - International Star Wars day. Staying with the theme is Star Wars: The Jedi Path review. The Jedi Path is the perfect gift or companion for any budding Padawan looking to know more about the lineage of The Jedi, and insight to many famous Jedi's such as Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi and of course Luke Skywalker to name a few.


The book is a study book for The Jedi that has been passed down through the generations from many notorious characters from the Star Wars Universe. Thus, as a study book it shows force exercises, history of the force and it's wielders (using history from many of the video games set in the past such as 'The Old Republic').  Giving the reader a thorough understanding of the path and history of The Jedi- this is particularly useful if you've never had time to play through a lot of the RPG's (role playing games) such as the aforementioned Old Republic series.



The book itself uses hard car pages with jaggered sides in order to reflect and coincide with the idea that the book itself has been passed from Padawan's who grew to be some of the most powerful Jedi's on either side of the force down to you.  With annotations on majority of the pages from different Jedi's you can get an inside view of the internal and psychological events going on in a characters head. Such as Anakin Skywalker's curiosity with the Dark Side of the Force.  Filled with aesthetically pleasing images and Star Wars Terminology, this 'study guide' is highly accessible and feeds Star Wars fans' curiosity without difficulty with. This is actually an ideal gift for any Star Wars fan, at aged 6 or aged 60. With the multitude of levels this book can be view on it really is great for any fan of Star Wars or as an introduction for a new Padawan.

It should also be noted that the book deconstructs specific aspects and abilities of The Force along with roles, responsibilities and titles, these are elements of The Star Wars Universe that older readers and fans may be new to, however I feel this adds greater interest in the area without tarnishing the preconceived lineage.




With stories and images of ancient wars, training exercises for utilising the force and lightsabers, whilst an in depth glimpse into the psyche of the Universe's infamous Jedi Knights, this book was truly something else- a tribute to the mythology of Star Wars and its fundamental characters from every generation. As a review I would have to rate this book a solid ten out of ten.
